There are hundreds of monkeys that live in this forest, there are also some big bats hanging from the branches of trees. In the forest, there is a sacred place for Hindus called Pura Alas Kedaton Temple. Then on to The Bali Butterfly Park. This is the biggest butterfly garden in Bali and also in Indonesia and Southeast Asia for the preservation and breeding of butterflies and insects.

Then on to Pura Luhur Batukaru temple, built in the 11th century and one of Bali’s most famous temples. You can also wash in the sacred springs within the temples.

Our guides will provide you with sarong and sash so as you can enter the temple. From within the temple you can, if you choose, wind your way down a long staircase (400m) to a sacred grotto where the most important ceremonies take place. From there you walk down to a beautiful place by the river. You need to be reasonably fit to take the stairs. A car will be waiting to bring you back.
With an English speaking guide, and starting early in the morning, walk to the top of Mt. BatuKaru. Gunung Batukaru, sometimes spelled Batukau, is Bali's second-highest mountain at 2,276 m. It is the highest peak in the Bedugal volcanic area, but is dormant. Batukaru is worshipped by the Balinese, Batukaru has a large crater, the largest on Bali, but this crater is open at the southern end, allowing the river Mawa to escape. It is this that gives it the name "Batukaru", which means "coconut shell" in Balinese. Make your way up into the original rain-forest, passing Temple…….. Although tiny this is the most important temple to the surrounding villages. This trek is for the fit only and takes approx. 9 hours, but the views from the top are 360 degrees, and spectacular.
